How low can we go?

At least another 20 square metres, according to The WA Planning Commission.

On Wednesday, WAtoday reported that the Commission wants more terrace housing in WA and have recommended that the minimum green title block be shrunk from 100sqm to just 80sqm.

Welcome to the world of micro lots.

Queensland and South Australia are already well amongst the trend, with blocks as tiny as 45sqm being bought by homebuyers.

The shrinkage is expected to provide more affordable housing options as WA prepares to nearly double its population over the next 30 years.

Perth’s interest in micro lots was tested in Ellenbrook and, according to WAtoday, was pretty successful.

Taking a national market summary into consideration, the Ellenbrook houses could go for around $273,000.
