Russia’s first and only police Corgi will officially be stepping down from the force, and his role as lead sniffer dog.

The announcement was made on nine-year-old Ginger’s Instagram, declaring his decision to take his pension after seven and a half years of service.

Ginger was relied on to detect the presence of prohibited substances, which resulted in hundreds of drug dealers in the city of Nizhny Novgorod ending up in the dog house.

In the announcement, the Corgi plans to take up dancing, continue playing sports, and keep posting to his Instagram account to give us all some insight into the life of a retired police dog. It’s safe to say that Ginger won’t be slipping into dog days anytime soon!
