A Brisbane-based regional airline will expand to WA in June, specifically to Karratha.
Regulatory approvals pending, JETGO will provide a link between Brisbane Airport and the Pilbara city.
Flights are scheduled Monday to Thursday from June 25 to September 21, before switching to Mondays and Wednesdays from September 24.
City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said the expansion will give Karratha direct access to the east coast and international connections from Brisbane Airport.
He also said there was potential for a route between Karratha and Singapore – a plan in the works at JETGO – however, there was “considerably more work” required before flights could begin.
