Parents will no longer need to cram their baby’s bottles and nappies into their bags when flying, with Virgin offering checked baggage for children under two.
A child under 23 months old will have an allowance of 23kg of checked baggage, two large infant items such as a pram or cot and a 7kg carry-on bag for essential baby products – a first for an Australian airline.
Virgin ground operations general manager Paul Woosnam said the offer will be available on domestic and international flights.
Oh baby, don’t we have some sweet news for you! Our smallest flyers now have their very own baggage allowance. Parents travelling with a baby up to 23 months old can check in an extra bag in addition to two special infant items! 🍼👶 #BabyGotBag pic.twitter.com/o8YHAXyHnS

“We know travelling with an infant can be incredibly stressful and we’re pleased to make that journey a little more effortless,” Mr Woosnam said.
“We’re proud to be the only carrier in Australia to recognise that travelling with an infant sometimes means packing far more than usual.
“We think parents will be pleased too, as they can now pack a little extra for themselves on their next trip.”
