It’s hard to believe that we still have two phases go before we complete the WA Government’s roadmap to recovery… and we’re expecting an announcement on Phase 5 this week.
Only very few restrictions remain since we moved into Phase 4 on June 27, and this is one is a doozy.
Phase 5 would see all remaining restrictions lifted, except WA’s hard border and access to remote Aboriginal communities.
It would also see the scrapping of WA’s 2-square-metre rule and the 50 per cent capacity for our major venues.
The start date for Phase 5 had been tentatively earmarked for midnight, October 24.
WA Premier Mark McGowan confirmed he has already met with department heads over the Phase 5 rollout date.
“We’re currently in discussions about that with the Chief Health Officer, the Police Commissioner and the Department of Premier and Cabinet and the COVID Coordinator Sharyn O’Neill, in fact, we had a meeting about that this morning,” he said on Tuesday.
“I expect this coming week we’ll have a further announcement.”
