A bushfire in Bibra Lake, south of Perth, has been contained and subsequently downgraded to a WATCH AND ACT.
However, there’s still a possible threat to lives and homes as conditions are changing.
The fire started near the intersection of North Lake Road and Discovery Drive in Bibra Lake, near Adventure World and the Cockburn Ice Arena.
People between Progress Drive, Bibra Drive and North Lake Road in Bibra Lake are being urged to leave now if the way is clear or to shelter in their homes with all doors and windows closed.
- Go to a room in your home away from the fire front and make sure you can easily escape.
- Choose a room with two exits and water such as a kitchen or laundry.
It is too dangerous for anyone not at home to return, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services have advised.
A number of roads have been closed including:
- North Lake Road between Forrest Road and Bibra Drive
- Progress Drive from Bibra Drive to Gwilliam Drive
Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.
