Great news as we head into Phase 4, we’ve finally got word on the reopening date for the iconic Fremantle Markets.
Mark it in your diaries – Friday, July 10.
Traders within the markets are still getting themselves sorted, so they’ll be operating on reduced hours:
Friday to Sunday 9am-6pm, while the Yard will be open from 8am.
These hours will be reviewed monthly.
It follows the news that operators and the landlord – the City of Fremantle – are reportedly about to enter negotiations over $1.7 million of works and early longer-term security for the markets.
The Fremantle council recently caught up and voted to get much-needed repairs on the markets done – subject to a new lease being signed.
The current 18-year lease is set to wrap in 2026.
Fremantle Markets chief executive Natasha Atkinson said the council’s decision was one of “absolute relief.”
