WA-owned outdoor company Mainpeak has joined a list of Australian businesses closing their doors amidst a retail slump.

The news of their going into voluntary administration has been coupled with the company’s Facebook page advertising up to 60% off in an ‘Administrator’s Closing Down Sale’.

“Sad to see,” one wrote on social media. “Thanks Mainpeak for all the support to adventure and paddle sports you have given for years.”

Others wondered where snowboard and ski enthusiasts would now turn.

“Well, that sucks,” another posted.  “What are all the snow bunnies and world adventurers gonna do now for gear?”

Just this week, it was revealed that popular fashion accessory chain store Colette by Colette Hayman went into voluntary administration in late January.

As well as Colette, Mainpeak join retail heavyweights Harris Scarfe, EB Games and Jeanswest that have recently shut doors across the country.

Mainpeak administrators will continue to honour gift cards as long as customers spend the value of the vouchers in full.
