Thrill seekers will soon be able to hit speeds of up to 60km/h zipping around Optus Stadium in go karts personally designed by Perth’s own F1 champ, Daniel Ricciardo.

From Friday, December 11, footpaths around the stadium will be transformed into a 730m track where go kart drivers can zip through the Stadium Station corrals, under both platforms and through the Victoria Park Drive underpass, offering incredible views of Optus Stadium and Matagarup Bridge.

“We have purchased 22 of these Italian-made karts which will be arriving by air freight on Monday,” Andrew Freeman, the owner of the Kart Centre in Canning Vale, said on Friday.

“We’ve been told we are already seven times more popular than Guns N’ Roses in terms of clicks on bookings.”

(We prefer ‘Axel’ to Axl here, it seems)
