Perth’s south-eastern suburb of Armadale has clocked an impressive fifth place in a recent poll by Sh-t Towns of Australia.

NSW’s Mount Druitt has been crowned 2021’s Sh-t Suburb of the year, beating QLD’s Caboolture by a single vote, “the closest result in Sh-t Towns of Australia history,” the satirical suburb-ranking site remarked in a Facebook post.

Melbourne’s Frankston bagged the bronze with 19.5 per cent of the vote, followed by SA’s Elizabeth in fourth.

While Armadale came in with just eight per cent of the vote, ACT’s Capital Hill was left in the dust.

Full results:

  • Mount Druitt, NSW: 25.5%
  • Caboolture, QLD: 25.5%
  • Frankston, VIC: 19.5%
  • Elizabeth, SA: 14.5%
  • Armadale, WA: 8%
  • Capital Hill, ACT: 7%

Armadale MLA Tony Buti told The West he didn’t believe the ‘award’ was a true reflection of the suburb he not just represents, but lives.

“Obviously, I reject this award,” he said. “There are certain parts of Armadale that have special challenges, but there are other parts that anyone who came out would say, ‘Gee, I wouldn’t mind living here’.”

Back in June, Armadale was voted Perth’s Sh-ttest Suburb, attracting 23 per cent of the vote, followed by Rockingham and Midland.

  • Armadale (23%)
  • Rockingham (18%)
  • Midland (12%)
  • Fremantle (11%)
  • Balga & Kwinana (tied at 9% each)

At the time, Rockingham man and proudly pro-mullet WA Premier Mark McGowan referred to the people behind the survey as ‘jerks’.

“I’m unimpressed with these people… when they go get their vaccine, they’re going to get Nurse Ratchet as well,” he had said.
