One of Perth’s favourite natural open spaces has been forced to close for the entire school holiday period.
Gwelup’s Secret Garden is simply too popular.
The City of Stirling said on Friday that the “overwhelmingly popularity” of the garden has placed the infrastructure and natural environment under enough pressure to close it to the public over the holidays.
“The City understands the Secret Garden is a highly popular location and we appreciate the value it holds in the local community and across Perth,” the City said.
“However, it is not able to cope with such large numbers of visitors, which has resulted in negative impacts on the reserve and for local residents.”
