One of the most overwhelming things about a breast cancer diagnosis is where do you even start when it comes to treatment and support?

I mean, wouldn’t it be great to have one place where you could go from diagnosis-to-treatment to a range of support services?

Currently, there’s no facility offering this degree of advanced, integrated care to breast cancer patients in Australia, Carmelo Arto, CEO of Breast Cancer Research Centre WA told 96FM.

“Not where they can receive both medical treatment, access to local AND international clinical trials, as well as ongoing support services.”

Until now.

In August, WA will be home to the new Perth Breast Cancer Institute – a world-class comprehensive breast cancer centre.

It’s the first of its kind in the country.

“Our vision is to meet patients’ requirements from initial diagnosis and treatment – to a broad range of support services, all under the one roof,” Carmelo said.

In a sense, the new Perth Breast Cancer Institute will be a ‘one stop shop’ for breast cancer patients.

“With one-in-eight women at risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer before they’re 85, this facility will be a game-changer,” Carmelo added.

“And it’s donations that are making it happen!”

The Breast Cancer Research Centre has the busiest breast cancer clinical trials unit in Australia, already treating over 4,500 patients in WA, with amazing results, so imagine what they can do when the brand-new institute opens.

Of course, this great work wouldn’t be possible without generous donations that go directly to these support services.
