One of our most iconic products has been flying off supermarket shelves during isolation.

Compared to the same time last year, sales of Vegemite have soared a huge 55% – mind boggling, I mean, it’s been around for nearly 100 years.

“And it’s not like you use a lot of it each time,” Fred remarked on Wednesday morning.

But Lisa reckons she knows why.

“This tells me how many people leave for work in the morning without eating any breakfast,” she said. “All these people are suddenly at home with time to have some toast and Vegemite.”

Fred chimed in that it probably wasn’t just breakfast, but lunch… or afternoon tea… or a snack after dinner…
