Woolworths has flagged interest in turning the carpark of one of Perth’s most well-known former hospitals into a supermarket.

Fabcot, a subsidiary of Woolies, bought the former Princess Margaret Hospital car parking site at the corner of Murray Street and Thomas Street in West Perth in June 2019 from the state government.

At the time of sale, the state government said the mixed-use site could be developed to include a shopping centre and apartments.

Fabcot were keen to develop a supermarket, some specialty shops and an online delivery centre.

If it gets greenlighted, it would be the first and only ‘full line’ supermarket in West Perth.

Currently, residents must head to suburbs such as Subiaco to do a proper grocery shop.

Fabcot hope to have a development application lodged by Christmas.
