The two new cases have now been confirmed with residents living in Frenchs Forest, north of Sydney.

These additions now bring the total infections on the Northern Beaches area to four.

Including the airport driver, there are now five total new COVID-19 cases in Sydney that have popped up in the last few days.

On Wednesday, WA Premier Mark McGowan said he wouldn’t rule out reimposing hard border restrictions if further infections were detected in NSW.

“We’ll continue to monitor the situation,” he had told reporters.

“The controlled border we have in place with all other states allows us to put up a hard border immediately if we need to and if the advice comes back that we need to put up a hard border, then we will.”
