Police have charged a man accused of a home burglary that ended in the death of a family pet.

It’s alleged the 29-year-old broke into a home in Spearwood in the early hours of Saturday morning, when the family dog, a pug named Coco, was allegedly thrown over a fence.

The dog was later found dead.

It was reported that Coco’s owners, Tahnee and Nebojsa Vuksan were in Sydney at the time.

“You plan your life around your animals. You do your research and do so much to protect them and then someone comes into your house and takes them. It’s devastating,” Mrs Vuksan told The West, referring to her pet as family and her “baby”.

The man will face court today charged with multiple offences including animal cruelty.
