A 28-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly pointed a laser at a Royal Flying Doctor Service plane in Perth’s south.
It’s alleged the dangerous prank happened while the plane was flying over the Golden Bay area about 9.30pm on Tuesday.
It’s not clear if any patients were aboard the RFDS plane at the time.
Police say their chopper was sent out to survey the area, and it too had a laser pointed at it.
A short time later, officers on the ground arrested a man at a property in Golden Bay, where they allegedly seized a laser.
The 28-year-old was charged with causing fear or alarm with a laser or light to people in conveyances and will appear in court at a later date.
He is the second person in less than two weeks to be charged for pointing a laser at an aircraft.
On May 22, a 22-year-old man was arrested after allegedly pointing a laser at a police chopper flying over Rockingham.
They were able to track the laser light to a house in Safety Bay where officers allegedly found a laser pointer under the accused’s bed.
