A man who dumped a fridge off a cliff has been ordered to go down and retrieve it… by hand.
The incident was captured on camera, with both the man and the person recording both heard joking about recycling as the fridge was thrown over a rail and down the steep cliff.
The offender was fined 45,000 euros ($AU74,277) and made to return to the cliff to collect the fridge and dispose of it correctly, AUGC Guardia Civil tweeted.
In a follow-up video, taken by the police, the man can be seen struggling to drag the appliance back up the cliff.

A spokesperson for the civil guard told CNN a court would now decide whether the man would face further fines for “environmental crime”.
Following the investigation, police said a waste management company that employed the man would also face sanctions because it too had failed to properly dispose of old refrigerators.
