The search continues for a boy, 8, missing in a national park in WA’s south.
A drone, police divers and boat patrols will continue to be used as the search focuses on rapids in the Mount Frankland National Park, where police say the boy was involved in a boating incident on Sunday morning.
SES volunteers have been patrolling the area in a boat, while police divers have been scoured the river.
Great Southern Superintendent Kim Travers said the family were familiar with the area, which was a common spot for them to camp.
“They are from the regions so they know this area,” she said.
“The family are with friends… they went on a camping weekend, it is the last weekend before school starts again.”
Many locals in Walpole have offered to help in the search, but Superintendent Travers said that while it was encouraging to see such a large number of community members offering to assist, the search was already resourced by trained experts.
