Perth has woken up to a blanket of cloud and smoke on Tuesday as haze from a fire in Harvey is pushed north.

The Parks and Wildlife Service has issued an official smoke alert for Perth’s metro and southern suburbs.

If the smoke is particularly thick, it is recommended people shut doors and windows and turn off air-conditioners.

The smoke is expected to clear by early afternoon.

Meanwhile, a Watch And Act remains for the area bounded by Treasure Road, Wellesley Road North and Old Coast Road north of Kemerton in the Shire of Harvey.

The blaze was reportedly deliberately lit.
