WA’s bid for the 2020 AFL Grand Final was a bitter blow.
“By the time we put the bid in, it was too late,” Ryan Daniels told The Bunch on Tuesday.
“The damage had been done, we’d closed the borders, we’d made it very hard for the AFL to come in and out, so we were never really a shot.”
In the end, because Queensland couldn’t have been more accommodating for the AFL, they got the nod.
This year it’s different.
While it’s still possible that, despite the current virus setbacks, the MCG will still host the 2021 Grand Final… you’d have to assume that the AFL is already getting their Plan B together.
And we reckon that Plan B includes Optus Stadium.
