Australian singer Nick Cave has confirmed the death of his son Jethro at the age of 31.

The Bad Seeds musician, known for hits such as Into My Arms and One More Time With Feeling, said his son had “passed away”.

In a statement, the frontman said: “With much sadness, I can confirm that my son, Jethro, has passed away.

“We would be grateful for family privacy at this time.”

Born in 1991, Jethro was Cave’s son with Beau Lazenby. Jethro lived with her in Melbourne and did not learn of Cave being his father until he was eight years old.  As an adult, Jethro worked as a model, photographer, and actor.

His death comes less than seven years after Cave’s son Arthur died, aged 15, after he fell from a cliff in 2015.

Jethro had only been released from jail last Thursday, May 5, after he was found guilty of physically attacking his mother in March.
