With just days to go until Black Sabbath’s final performance, their hometown of Birmingham has been buzzing with tributes – and one of the most surprising comes courtesy of the city’s LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, which has immortalised the heavy metal pioneers as LEGO minifigures.

The miniature stage setup is impressively accurate, although die-hard fans were quick to notice one detail: left-handed guitarist Tony Iommi is shown playing right-handed.

The farewell event, titled Back to the Beginning, is set to take over Villa Park on July 5 and marks not only Black Sabbath’s final show but also the last solo performance by frontman Ozzy Osbourne. It’s a colossal send-off, featuring a stacked lineup that includes Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, TOOL, Alice in Chains, and Anthrax, among heaps of others.

Ahead of the milestone gig, Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, and drummer Bill Ward reflected on the band’s legacy and how they hope to be remembered.

“You can never know how your life turns out,” Iommi said. “It’s about believing in what you do and following that path. That’s what I’ve always done – never giving up.”
He added that he hopes the band is remembered “for what we brought to the table -creating something new, and inspiring others to build on it.”

Ward echoed the sentiment, saying, “I hope we’re remembered for pushing boundaries—for being bold, outrageous, rough around the edges. We were loud and aggressive, and that’s what I loved about us.”

Butler summed it up simply: “Four working-class blokes who defied the odds, believed in ourselves, and connected with the greatest fans in the world.”
