Many actors go through amazing transformations to prepare for roles in new films, from intense makeup effects to most notably, bulking up in preparation to play a superhero.

Academy Award-winning actor Russell Crowe has gone through his own transformation – and all he had to do was have a shave, his first in five years.

The Gladiator shared a rather blue steel pic of himself, sans the silver beard he’s been rocking for years, showing off his now-fresh face with just a hint of stubble. Based on his caption, it appears as though he is getting ready for some new film roles.

“The actor prepares #20,” he captioned the pic, adding that it is his “First shave since 2019.”

While Crowe didn’t reveal which film had him reaching for the razor, Page Six reports that he is preparing to take on the role of Hermann Göring, Adolf Hitler’s right-hand man, in Nuremburg, which is set to begin filming soon in Hungary. Additionally, he is set to appear in The Beast in Me, which starts filming soon.

Crowe recently made headlines for narrating an excellent 5-minute video explaining the general rules of NRL for American sportsfans (or anyone new to the game) so they can get a grasp on how the game works ahead of several matches being played in Las Vegas early next month.

The Manly Sea Eagles face off against the South Sydney Rabbitohs (the club co-owned by Crowe), before a clash between the Sydney Roosters and Brisbane Broncos in a double-header at Vegas’ 65,000-seat Allegiant Stadium on March 3.

The Manly-Souths game will take place at 6.30pm local time and 1.30pm AEDT while the Roosters-Broncos match begins at 8.30pm local time and 3.30pm AEDT.
