After 37 years of sun, sand and drama in Summer Bay, Home and Away is packing up and heading west… and we don’t mean to Yabbie Creek.

In a first for the long-running Aussie soap, the series is heading across the Nullarbor to shoot a storyline right here in WA this October. And while producers are keeping tight-lipped about the plot (classic Home and Away), they’ve teased it’ll be an ‘ambitious, high-stakes’ arc spread over five special episodes.

Backed by Tourism WA, the special event will swap the familiar beaches of the Bay for ‘cosmopolitan Perth’ and ‘the rugged coastline and expansive red outback.’

It’s a huge moment for WA, which has never hosted Home and Away in the show’s nearly four-decade run. And with an international fan base that spans almost 50 countries, including a loyal 250,000-strong audience per episode in the UK alone, this storyline is being seen as a golden opportunity to give the world a proper peep at our west coast.

Details on who’s involved – and what kind of trouble they’re getting into – are still under wraps, but cameras are set to roll soon. And if we know Home and Away, we can expect danger, romance, and possibly a dramatic chase down the Zig Zag. Anything’s possible.

One thing’s for sure – the quokka selfies are coming.
