Nearly a decade after The Biggest Loser wrapped in the US, the hit weight-loss competition is getting a fresh spotlight – and this time, it’s not all feel-good transformations and weigh-ins.
Netflix just dropped the trailer for Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser, a three-part docuseries landing August 15. It dives headfirst into the behind-the-scenes chaos of the controversial show – from the tears and triumphs to the tactics that made it ratings gold (and, according to some, psychologically damaging).
Expect candid interviews with former contestants, trainers, producers, and health experts as they unpack what really went on. Contestant Tracey Yukich says getting cast felt like “winning the lottery,” but the dream quickly soured – she later claims her organs were literally shutting down. Others recall being pushed through extreme pain while producers allegedly egged it all on for dramatic effect.
“We weren’t looking for people who were overweight and happy,” admits executive producer J.D. Roth in the trailer.
“We were looking for people who were overweight and unhappy.”
Big yikes.
