The food writer whose commitment to preparing all 524 recipes in Julia Child’s ‘Mastering the Art Of French Cooking’, which was made into the 2009 romantic comedy ‘Julie & Julia’, has died. She was just 49.

Her husband confirmed her death yesterday, the cause was cardiac arrest.

Amy Adams portrayed the author alongside Meryl Streep, who was nominated for an Oscar for best actress as her portrayal of cooking legend Child.

The movie stemmed from Powell’s 2002 blog, which documented her yearlong quest to cook all the recipes from volume 1 of Child’s iconic cookbook from 1961.

Powell’s amateurish efforts, named the Julie/Julia Project, went on to attract hundreds of thousands of page views. Her experience became the best-selling 2005 book Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen before it was turned into a movie.
