Tim Winton’s stories have been made into everything from films, TV miniseries, plays, operas and puppet shows.

The one thing that drives Winton’s stories, is where – the landscape and place – and those locations usually include coastal WA.

“The place comes first,” he once said. “If the place isn’t interesting to me then I can’t feel it. I can’t feel any people in it. I can’t feel what the people are on about or likely to get up to.”

Over the weekend, Winton found himself on the King’s Birthday Honours List… but on Monday, he took Clairsy & Lisa back to Ningaloo.
