Ruva Ngwenya was doing some grocery shopping when she was offered the role of a lifetime – Tina Turner.
“I was in Coles when I got the call,” she told Clairsy & Lisa on Monday. “I just burst into tears, I couldn’t believe it.”
Tina: The Tina Turner Musical is currently playing in Sydney, but will soon be showing at Crown Theatre.
And honestly, the audition process for Tina sounded more gruelling than SAS Australia.
“The first group dance callback we had was for Proud Mary. I wanted to vomit,” Ruva admitted.
“We danced it over and over again and a lot of us were on all fours crouched over.
One of my girlfriends was like, ‘don’t sit down, don’t sit down, you won’t be able to get back up again!'”
