It’s been 28 years since Mariah Carey released her hit Christmas song, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’… but year-on-year, it continues to pull some extraordinary weight.

Almost every year, the song reaches number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and last year it became the first ever Christmas song to become certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America.

It’s estimated Carey makes about $2.5 million each year from the song. By 2016, it had made $60 million in total. Ooof.

The Economist worked out that since then, Carey has made over $75 million from that one song alone.

Le sigh.
