West Coast’s midfielder Elliot Yeo was the first to say it on Tuesday morning.

“We played really bad,” he straight-up told Clairsy & Lisa, adding the Eagles’ second quarter against North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium in particular was “pretty deplorable.”

While it was a shocker, the Roos only won by five points: 12.15 (87) to 12.10 (82).

After wrapping up a forgettable round one, Yeo looked to round two and the chances of overcoming a calf injury he copped in, and get this, the very last minutes of training last week. Ugh.

“Something’s not right here,” he recalled thinking at the time when he felt a pop.

Speaking of injuries, we’re thanking our lucky stars Yeo’s isn’t even close to the sickening one Collingwood’s Jeremy Howe suffered during a collision with Geelong’s Tyson Stengle during Friday night’s clash where he landed heavily.

Howe will be sidelined indefinitely after suffering a compound fracture in his forearm.

But Yeo knows exactly what Howe is going through, although the circumstances were a wee bit different.

“It was probably one of the silliest things I’ve ever done.” Yeo said as we all leaned forward to hear the gory details.

“Same break; both bones completely snapped all the way through.”
