The Fremantle Dockers are riding high in third spot following their jaw-dropping 38-point win over Melbourne at the MCG.
The Dees were cruising towards an 11-0 start in 2022 after leading by 30 points late in the second quarter before Freo slammed through the last 10 goals of Saturday’s match to make one helluva statement.
The Dockers, who were coming off disappointing defeats to Gold Coast and Collingwood, produced an eight-goal third-quarter burst, followed by 17 points at the final change, kicking 13 of the last 14 goals before bringing the reigning premiers’ 17-game winning streak to a screeching halt to the tune of 14.10 (94) to 7.14 (56).
Phew.
On Wednesday, you could hear Dave Mundy’s smile as he recalled the team’s ‘healthy margin’ at the final siren.
