It’s the hit Aussie series that’s currently in the Top 10 in 47 countries on Netflix, and on Thursday we spoke to one of the stars of Boy Swallows Universe.

The series is adapted from Trent Dalton’s novel of the same name, which follows Eli Bell, a young boy growing up in the suburbs of 1980s Brisbane who tries to make sense of the world around him despite obstacles such as school bullies, a junkie mum, a drug dealer stepdad and a mute brother.

Fremantle’s Lee Tiger Halley, 18, plays that mute brother, Gus Bell, and Clairsy & Lisa chatted to him about a stack of things, including how on earth you audition for a part that has virtually no lines, how he reacted when he was offered the part, and if he kept anything from the set. Oh, and if you haven’t read the book, don’t worry, neither has Lee.

L-R: Trent Dalton, Simon Baker, Phoebe Tonkin, Felix Cameron, Lee Tiger Halley, Bryan Brown and Travis Fimmel during the Netflix premiere of ‘Boy Swallows Universe’

Honestly, if this is the calibre of young actors coming up the ranks, Australia’s future in film and television is bright.
