If you’re one of the few who hasn’t taken a pic of Freo’s iconic ‘Containbow’ yet, you might want to get a wriggle on.

The colourful container installation along Canning Highway, overlooking the Swan River and Fremantle Port, is earmarked to move.

The insta-worthy, gateway to Freo – made up of nine shipping containers and weighing about 66 tonnes – has been perched in its current location since 2016, but Main Roads says it has to move along as it makes plans for the new Fremantle Traffic Bridge.

“Main Roads recognises that the Containbow is a popular iconic public art installation in Fremantle, which is why we are working closely with the City of Fremantle and the artist regarding its future use and location,” they told PerthNow.

It’s also understood that the artist, Marcus Canning, the City and other parties have been in confidential talks about the installation’s future, including a new location.
