For 132 years, the New York Yacht Club had retained the America’s Cup in the longest winning streak in sporting history in the oldest international sporting competition in the world.

Until 1983.

The combination of Alan Bond, Ben Lexen, Warren Jones, and the hard yakka of Australia II’s crew led to one of the biggest sporting comebacks in sporting history – and put Fremantle on the map, literally overnight.
